World Responsible Tourism Day

It’s World Responsible Tourism Day and I’m reminded of poem The Peace of Wild Things by environmentalist and American poet Wendell Berry.
The lines:

‘I go and lie down where the wood drake

rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.

I come into the peace of wild things …

for a time

I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”

encapsulates what taking care of our earth and travelling with awareness is about. In return, the earth takes care of us when our spirits need restoring.

You can hear Wendell Berry read the poem here.

Responsible Tourisms Awards and talks are being held at the World Travel Market London today. Twitter hashtags #wrtd #wtm2017 #wtml
